캐나다 어학연수와 미국 버지니아 노바컬리지 매나사스 캠퍼스중 택

안녕하세요 어학연수 관련해서 질문하고 싶습니다

올해 1년정도 어학연수 갖다오고 싶은데

현재 캐나다 (현재 생각하는 지역 : 캘로나 vnawest어학원) 와

미국 버지니아주 노바커뮤니티컬리지 매나사스 캠퍼스 중 고민중입니다

버지니아주에서는 연고자 분이 살고계서서 집문제는 걱정없는데

둘중 고민하고 있는중입니다

영어 초급인데 캐나다로 갈시 저에게 맞는 초급부터 프로그램이 많은것이 장점이고

단점은 혼자 생활해야하는점이 많이 부담될수있는점입니다

미국으로갈시 연고자분 집에서 지내면서 좀더 편한생활을 하는것인데

많은분들이 그쪽 지역이 한국인비중이 높아서 비추천을 하더라구요 어학원 같은 경우도 한국적비율이

많이 높다고 해서요

어느쪽으로 가야 영어 초급인 저한테 어울리고 잘할수 있는지 궁금한점을 여쭈고 싶습니다

이렇게 적어드리죠.

어느 영어학월을 가든 한국인이 적은곳은 없습니다.
이유는 이러합니다.

영어학원이란 곳은 기본적으로 영어를 공부하러 오는 영어를 못하는 사람들이 모이는 곳입니다.

당연하지만, 생각해보시면 그렇습니다.

영어를 못하니깐 가는거죠.

그럼 영어가 필요로 하는 나라가 어느국가인가를 봐야합니다.

주로 영어학원들의 주요 고객은 한국/일본이구요.

그다음으로는 중국/중남미/러시아/유럽 이런식입니다.

어디가든 한국인을 피할수도 피하기도 어려운 구조로 되어있다는 것입니다.

이게 사실상의 어학연수의 현실입니다.

더불어

혼자 산다는것의 불편함이랄까? 외로움이 있기는 합니다.

그러나 아는 사람 집에서 사는것에 대한 불편함 역시 존재합니다.

규율을 지켜야 한다든지, 내가 잘못하거나 하면 그것이 나뿐만 아니라 내 가족 전체를 욕먹이는 결과가 발생할수도 있다는 것을 아셨으면 합니다.

실제로 아는 분 집에 가서 더 사이가 나빠지는 경우를 많이 목격한 저로써는 좀 신중히 선택하셨으면 하는 바입니다.

엄~~~청 친해서 4촌이내 가족관계 같은 사람이 아니라면 서로 조심해야하고

서로 불편하고 그럴수 있습니다.

뭐 이렇게 하면 어학연수 가지 말라고 하는걸로 결론이 나는데;; 허허허

현지에서 조언을 드리고 싶은건

님이 자신 스스로 강하다고 생각한다면, 자취도 한번 고려해보시라고 해보고 싶구요.

어느 곳을 가든 한국인이 있기 때문에, 한국인과 적당히 관계만 유지하고

영어에 집중하는 생활을 하셨으면 합니다.

(근데 그 적당한 관계가 사실 어렵습니다. 왜냐하면 외국 나오면 정신적으로나 육체적으로 힘들거든요. 정신적으로는 외로워서 힘들고, 육체적으로는 풍토적응에 어렵고.

그러면 내말 내마음이 통하는 한국인들이 어마무시하게 친해지는데,

그게 나중에는 결국은 독이 됩니다. 그 한국인들은 그들의 필요성에 의해서(님도 그렇지만) 관계 유지를 하는 사람들이 대부분이기 때문이죠- 그래서 적당한 관계라는게 그러한 이유입니다.)

그런다음에 사실 시골에 있으면 문제는 너무 하~~~ㄴ 가 로워서 지루하기까지해요.

자연을 보고 즐기는것도 한 1~2주이지.... 사실상 1달 있으면 그동네를 외울정도가 되거든요.

그래서 저는 대략 3~4개월정도 켈로나에서 지내다가

대도시로 서서히 옮겨 가라고 하고 싶네요.

관광비자로 어학연수를 갈것이냐,

학생비자로 어학연수를 갈것이냐 선택을 해야하는데

캐나다는 합법적으로 6개월 미만의 학업은 무비자(관광비자)로 입국이 가능합니다.

그리고 불법이지만, 캐나다 현지에서 관광비자 만료 되기전에 추가 6개월을 연장해서

더 어학연수를 하는 경우가 대부분입니다.

그러나 연장한 관광비자로 공부하는건 불법입니다.

다만, 캐나다 이민국이 칼같이 잡아내는게 아니고 공부라고 하는 이유를 대면,

언제언제까지 자진출국하라고 종용만 하기 때문에 다들 불법인줄 알면서 이렇게 공부합니다.

옛날엔 불필요하게 신체검사를 받을 필요가 없었지만,(신체검사 비 절약)

최근엔 거의 100% 신체검사를 받으라고 나오기 때문에 기왕 가는거 학생비자를 추천하기도 합니다.

학생비자로 가면 장점은 캐나다 의료보험이 커버가 됩니다.

물론 그 의료보험이란게 다달히 59불씩 납부를 해야하지만,

병원에 갈때 부담없이 간다는게 참 좋은거죠.

보통 무보험상태에서 캐나다 병원을 가면 100불

응급실 들어가면 300~500불이 깨지는걸 생각하면 다달히 59불이 저렴한거라고 생각하게 될것입니다.

다만, 한국어로 안되는건 무보험이든 보험이든 똑같습니다.

뭐 이런 부분이 있네요.

저는 캐나다에 살기 때문에 이정도만 조언을 드립니다.

미국쪽은 제가 전혀 몰라서 도움이 안되는데, 뭐 대략 지인내 집에서 머무는것에 대해서는 한번 생각해보셨으면 하네요.
